Escargot Utensils
"Escargot" is French for "snail," a delicacy enjoyed
in the Mediterranean countries, especially France, where they say the
best snails are harvested. Snails are also harvested primarily in the U.S.
and Taiwan.
Snail tongs are a must if you will be eating the snails right out of
their shell, as are the special thin, 2-tine forks.
Generally, snails are baked right in their shells, in the dishes shown
below. These dishes have rims, so that they will contain the sauce. You can
also remove the snails prior to cooking, and place them in individual
ceramic shells with your sauce. |
