Steve's Apple-Cranberry Crumb Pie
Topping Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
Filling Ingredients:
8 medium-to-large Granny Smith apples
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup raw cranberries
1 tablespoon cinnamon
9" unbaked pie crust
Procedure:
- Mix topping ingredients together until crumbly.
- Peel core and slice the apples.
- Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon together in a large bowl.
- Toss apples and cranberries into the flour/sugar mixture.
- Put the filling in the pie shell.
- Evenly top with the crumb mixture.
- Place pan on cookie sheet lined with foil (or the Non Stick Oven Splatter
Guard, shown above); mixture will likely bubble over.
- Bake at 400°F for 1 hour.
Holding:
The pie should be kept at room temperature for 2 to 3 days.
Variations:
Fresh peaches or pears can easily be substituted for the apples.
