Traditionally, rosettes are decorated with powdered sugar, and topped with whipped cream, jams or jellies.

Cupped forms are called Patty Shells, and traditionally filled with creamed vegetable, creamed meat, fish, chicken, or sweetbreads. When intended as a dessert, they are filled with sweetened fruit, ice cream, berries, or pudding.
